No published route. Mechikali is a 3,120 m summit about 2.3 km from the Georgian border in Dagestan's Didoi (Tsunta) country; the nearest road-head is the high village of Genukh, about 9.5 km to the north-north-east. Expect a long trackless day on shepherds' paths, grass and scree, entirely inside the Russian border zone.

We found no trip report, route description or published grade for Mechikali. The summit stands in the upper Metluda (Didoi) basin of Tsuntinsky district, about 2.3 km north-east of the Georgian border and 1.5 km east of Durujis-Tavi (3,086 m), on a ridge that OSM names as part of the Bogos range. The closest villages are Genukh (highest houses at about 2,000 m) and Kidero, the district centre, about 1 km apart. As of 2023 there was no asphalt anywhere in the district; drivers reach it either up the rough road along the Andi Koisu or from Bezhta over the Genukh pass (2,470 m). The most plausible approach is from Genukh south up the valleys of the Metluda headwaters to the ridge and the summit, on summer pastures and scree with no glacier, but this is inferred from the map rather than from a description. Plan for a very long day or a high camp, carry everything you need and expect no waymarks. The whole area lies inside the Russian border zone with Georgia. A border-zone pass from the FSB Border Directorate for Dagestan is needed for the mountains near the frontier, and there is no legal border crossing in these mountains.

Overview
Mechikali (3,120 m) is an obscure summit in the Didoi country of Tsuntinsky district, south-west Dagestan, about 2 km from the Georgian border above the villages of Genukh and Kidero. We found no ascent report: this is unexplored, border-zone hill country for self-reliant walkers.
Mechikali rises in the upper basin of the Metluda (Didoi basin), the remote south-western corner of Dagestan that borders Georgia's Tusheti and Kakheti. It stands about 1.5 km east of Durujis-Tavi (3,086 m) and about 2.3 km from the state border, on a ridge that OSM maps as the south-western end of the Bogos range. Around it lie high summer pastures and the Tsez (Didoi) villages of Kidero, Genukh, Zekhida and Tsunta.
The district is among the least visited in Dagestan. As of 2023 it had no asphalt road; drivers come in along the Andi Koisu or over the Genukh pass (2,470 m) from Bezhta. Walkers who do come mostly follow the Bogos ridge north-east from the Genukh pass towards Balakuri (3,736 m). We found no description of Mechikali itself, so any ascent is a piece of exploration on grass, scree and shepherds' paths.
The border zone is the main constraint: the mountains near the frontier are closed without a pass from the FSB Border Directorate for Dagestan, and travellers report a tense border situation in the district.
Climbing Notes
Treat this as an exploratory mountain walk. Apply for a Dagestan border-zone pass at least a month ahead (Russian citizens: about two to three weeks by email to the FSB Border Directorate plus postal delivery; foreigners should allow longer). Base yourself in Kidero or Genukh, carry a GPS with offline topographic maps and a tent, and expect no waymarks, no mobile signal on the ridge and no rescue nearby. Snow can linger on north-facing slopes above 3,000 m into July. Respect local customs and ask shepherds about the way.
