1Sources differ: T3 to the Magisho pass and the 3,015 m top (pohod-v-gory.ru, viaestvita.ru (estimate from descriptions))
The approach used by trekking groups on the north-east side, outside the Caucasus Reserve: 4x4 from Rozhkao to the meadows below Belaya Skala, over the Belaya Skala pass to the Blyb lakes (about 2,520 m), then a grass and scree climb to the Magisho pass (2,880 m) and the 3,015 m top. The rocky ridge on to the main summit (3,160 m) is undocumented and rarely climbed.
About 23% of this line is approximate (no mapped trail; drawn from the terrain). Check it against a map before relying on it.

From Mostovskoy, groups take a UAZ 4x4 via the village of Rozhkao up a rough track to the alpine meadows of the Dzhentu and Belaya Skala ridges, close to the Belaya Skala pass (2,460 m). Cross the pass into the Bolshoy Blyb valley and follow meadows south-west to the Blyb lakes (Lake Leushina, about 2,520 m) under the east face of the Magisho ridge, a long half-day with a full pack. Camp by the lakes. Next morning climb a grassy slope to the Magisho pass (2,880 m), an old unclassified drovers' crossing between the Bolshoy Blyb and Umpyr valleys, and continue up scree to the unnamed 3,015 m top just south of it. Trekkers describe this as 'probably the easiest three-thousander' in the area, with little path but obvious ground. The main summit of Magisho is the higher pair of tops about 2.5 km further south along the ridge. No description of the final ridge to the main summit was found. Local sources say the main summit is generally not visited because of complex, rocky ground on the north side and the reserve ban on its south-west slopes; a 2017 reserve survey party approaching from the Umpyr pass side turned back at about 3,080 m on rock they would not climb without equipment. Treat the last section as exploratory and turn back if it needs more than scrambling. Return by the same route.

Route confidence 30%Overview
Magisho (3,160 m) is the highest point of the Magisho ridge, an 11 km wall of rocky tops between the Bolshaya and Malaya Laba valleys on the edge of the Caucasus Reserve. Trekkers visit its lakes and a 3,015 m subsidiary top; the main summit itself is rarely, if ever, climbed.
The Magisho ridge runs about 11 km north-west to south-east between the upper Bolshaya Laba and Malaya Laba, from the Volkova pass (2,805 m) above Lake Robert Scott to Pik Zakan (2,271 m) above the Zakan cordon. It follows the boundary between Karachay-Cherkessia and Krasnodar Krai and, in part, the eastern edge of the Caucasus Biosphere Reserve: the south-west slopes are reserve land, the north-east slopes are summer grazing. The highest point, Magisho (3,160 m), rises over the Zakan, Umpyr and Bolshoy Blyb valleys; most other tops on the ridge are unnamed.
The area's appeal is its lakes and meadows rather than its summit. Below the east face lie the Blyb lakes (Lake Leushina at about 2,520 m) and Lake Magisho (2,649 m, 37.5 m deep), and further north Lake Robert Scott with its sandy shore. Rhododendron flowers in late June and early July, and tur, chamois, bison and bears are seen on the ridge.
Guided treks from Mostovskoy cross the ridge at the Magisho pass (2,880 m) and climb the 3,015 m top beside it, an easy three-thousander. The main summit, about 2.5 km to the south, is generally not visited: its north side is rocky and complex and its south-west side is in the closed part of the reserve. No account of a modern ascent was found.
Climbing Notes
For the lakes and the 3,015 m top you need trekking fitness, camping gear and navigation skills: the usual plan is a 4x4 drop near the Belaya Skala pass, a half-day to the Blyb lakes, and a morning climb over grass and scree to the Magisho pass and the top. Most commercial treks continue north to Lake Robert Scott, Markopidzh and Khatsavita and end at Nikitino after 5–7 days.
An attempt on the main summit is exploratory: carry a helmet and a short rope, allow a full day from the lakes, and be ready to turn back on loose rock. Stay on the north-east (Karachay-Cherkessia) side of the crest unless you have written permission from the Caucasus Reserve. Fog and short heavy showers are common; there is no mobile coverage.
History
The name is of Abkhaz origin, probably 'the rock (or valley) of Mguasha', a personal name. Early 20th-century maps show shepherds' huts and loggers' barracks on both sides of the ridge; none survive. In July 2017 a Caucasus Reserve tur and chamois survey party tried the main summit from the Umpyr pass and turned back at about 3,080 m.
