1Sources differ: Red-marked path (peakbook trip report, 2017) (peakbook.org)
A well-marked path from the farm Smiset above Ålvundfjorden: up a wet forest track to the old summer farm Setra, onto open mountain from about 500 m and along the east ridge, well back from the cliffs into Seljebøbotnen, to the cairn and trig point. About 1,100 m of ascent and just under 5 hours return.

Turn off towards Smiset and take the unsigned side road to the farm; a local gate gives access to the Smiset car park (about 115 m), which has room for many cars and a view of the summit area. Follow an overgrown and very wet forest track up through the woods to about 250 m, where the path branches left and climbs to Setra, an old summer-farm site with stone walls and a view down to Smiset. Around 500 m the forest gives way to open mountain. The red-marked path winds up the east ridge, keeping well away from the cliffs that drop north into Seljebøbotnen. A cairn south of the summit is nicknamed 'Lurevarden' (the cheat cairn); the true top has a cairn, a summit box with a logbook and a Kartverket survey bolt. Return the same way. The peakbook report (September 2017) took 4 h 54 min at an easy pace for 9.7 km and 1,100 m of ascent. The ridge east of the summit, at about 700 m, can be very windy.

Route confidence 55%Overview
The highest mountain in Tingvoll on Nordmøre (about 1,175 m), a broad ridge-top summit between Ålvundfjorden and Tingvollfjorden with more than 1,000 m of prominence. Two marked paths lead up, from Smiset on the Ålvundfjord side and from Myravatnet near Meisingset, both straightforward in good weather.
Smisetnebba stands on the boundary between Tingvoll and Sunndal municipalities in Nordmøre, Møre og Romsdal. It rises from Ålvundfjorden on the east to a long, broad ridge with steep cliffs on its north and east sides, and its prominence of over 1,000 m makes it one of Norway's ultra-prominent peaks. From the top there are views into Innerdalen, across to Flånebba and down to Ålvundfjorden and Tingvoll.
It is a hiker's mountain. From Smiset (about 115 m) a red-marked path climbs through wet forest and past an old summer farm onto the east ridge; from Myravatnet near Meisingset a less clearly marked path goes via the viewpoint Kvilhaugen, a boulder scramble to Kaldbaken and an easy path along the escarpment. Both involve about 1,000–1,100 m of ascent and take 5–6 hours return. It can be combined with Flånebba (1,147 m) to the south.
The main risk is weather: fog can come in quickly even on clear days, and the path can be hard to follow when it does.
Climbing Notes
A full day for fit walkers, about 1,050–1,100 m of ascent. Carry map and compass or GPS, as fog and wind can arrive quickly; the morotur guide advises against going in bad weather. The Myravatnet route has poorly marked sections on the lower climb and a short boulder scramble below Kaldbaken; keep away from the edge of the escarpment above Ålvundfjorden.
Alternative start: leave Rv70 at the petrol station in Meisingset towards Rotås, after about 3 km turn left up to Hafstadvatnet and follow the road along the lake to the trail sign; park opposite the barrier on Myravatnveien. Walk about 800 m along the road, take the cart track signed Kvilhaugen, and continue past Nonshaugen to Kaldbaken and along the ridge to the summit (9.4 km, 1,044 m, about 6 hours return according to morotur).
Dogs must be on a lead in Tingvoll from 1 April to 30 September.
