Climbed as part of guided Bazardüzü trips: 4x4 from Khinalig to the high pastures at about 2,850 m, a 2-hour walk up the Yatyq valley to the Bazardüzü base camp at about 3,250 m, then a summit day of 6–7 hours over steep scree or loose slate to the ridge and along an exposed, partly knife-edged crest to the top.

Bazaryurd lies on the main Caucasus watershed about 6 km south-east of Bazardüzü, on the boundary of the Qusar and Qabala districts. Guided parties use the Bazardüzü approach: a drive from Baku to Khinalig (about 5 hours), 4x4 through Shahdag National Park, with registration at the State Border Service post, to the end of the track at about 2,800–2,850 m, and a walk of about 4 km and 2 hours along the Yatyq river to the base camp at about 3,250 m. Horses can carry loads. One operator gives 6–7 hours from this camp to the summit, with a 04:00 start, returning to the same camp; no line is described. The only detailed account read (BASE Magazine, 2020) describes a steep approach slope and two ways onto the ridge: a couloir of deep gravel and loose rock, harder work but safer, or a scramble on brittle, razor-sharp slate that constantly breaks and makes it hard to avoid knocking rocks down. Once on the crest it took about 3 hours, including a very exposed knife-edge section, to reach the summit. By late summer most snow had gone. That party approached from the south, from Qamarvan in Qabala district, and it is not certain that guided parties from the north take the same final line. Descend the same way. Expect loose ground throughout, keep groups close together in the couloir to limit rockfall, and turn back in bad weather: there is no organised mountain rescue in the area.

Route confidence 35%Overview
A 4,135 m summit of shattered slate on the main Caucasus watershed between Bazardüzü and Tufandağ, ranked among Azerbaijan's four highest. Rarely climbed: guided groups occasionally add it from the Bazardüzü base camp, by loose couloirs and an exposed knife-edge ridge.
Bazaryurd stands on the main ridge of the eastern Greater Caucasus, about 6 km south-east of Bazardüzü and 7 km west of Tufandağ, on the boundary between the Qusar and Qabala districts inside Shahdag National Park. Published heights vary from 4,126 m to 4,165 m; it is usually listed as Azerbaijan's fourth-highest summit.
The mountain is made of the dark, thin-bedded slate typical of this part of the Caucasus, which breaks into gravel and razor-edged flakes. Reports describe steep approach slopes, a choice between a gravel couloir and a brittle slate scramble to reach the ridge, and a long ridge with a very exposed knife-edge section before the summit. It is far less visited than its neighbours: online logs record only a handful of ascents.
Access is through the Bazardüzü approach from Khinalig, in the border zone with Russia (Dagestan). Some Azerbaijani operators include Bazaryurd in multi-peak trips with Shahdag and Bazardüzü, climbing it from the Bazardüzü base camp at about 3,250 m.
Climbing Notes
This is a serious day for experienced hillwalkers with scrambling ability: about 900 m from base camp, 6–7 hours up, on loose ground with exposure. A helmet is essential, and parties should move close together in the couloirs to limit rockfall. Acclimatise beforehand, for example on Kharibulbul above Khinalig and on Shahdag, as multi-peak itineraries do.
A local operator is effectively mandatory: the area is a border zone, permits from the State Border Service, Shahdag National Park and the Ministry of Emergency Situations require passport details about 30 days ahead, and the operator provides 4x4 transport, horses, tents and a guide. There is no mountain rescue service on either side of the border, and mobile coverage is patchy.
