The easiest and shortest ascent, from the Kohlweißhütte car park (about 1,600 m) at the top of a toll road above Afritz: path 184 to the Hochalmhütte (1,795 m), then path 185 above the treeline to the summit plateau. About 500 m of ascent and 1½ hours up; a 3½-hour loop returns over the Rindernock.

From Afritz (or Radenthein, just after the Afritzer See) turn off towards Lierzberg; after about 1 km a toll road (EUR 5 coins) climbs 6 km to the car park at the Kohlweißhütte (about 1,600 m). Path 184 leads through forest to the Hochalmhütte (1,795 m), usually staffed, in a little over an hour; the path is well built and marked but needs some sure-footedness in places. From the Hochalmhütte path 185 starts fairly steeply, then flattens above the treeline onto the broad, boggy summit plateau with its many small pools. The summit cross comes into view to the south-east and is reached about 15 minutes later. The view takes in the Julian and Carnic Alps, the Kreuzeck group, the Hohe Tauern and the Nock Mountains, with the Millstätter See below. For the Alpenverein Radenthein loop, follow path 180 about 200 m south and then east to the Rindernock (2,024 m, 15 minutes), drop back about 50 m to a small lake and descend north on path 183 to the car park (about 30 minutes). The loop is 8.9 km with about 610 m of ascent and takes 3½ hours.

Route confidence 75%Overview
A broad grassy summit (2,110 m) with a boggy plateau of small pools, rising above the east shore of the Millstätter See in the southern Nock Mountains. From the Kohlweißhütte at the top of a toll road it is an easy 1½-hour walk, with one of the widest panoramas in Carinthia.
The Mirnock is the dominant mountain between the Millstätter See, the Drau valley and the Afritz valley, and with more than 1,300 m of prominence it is the most independent summit of the southern Nock Mountains. Its top is a long, gently rolling plateau of alpine pasture, boggy in places and dotted with small pools; locals link the name to 'Moor'.
Paths reach the summit from every side. The east side is easy: a toll road climbs to about 1,600 m at the Kohlweißhütte, leaving 500 m of ascent past the Hochalmhütte. From the Millstätter See side in the west the climbs are long and steep, about 900 m from the farm inns above the lake.
In clear weather the panorama covers nearly all of Carinthia's ranges: the Julian and Carnic Alps, the Kreuzeck group, the Hohe Tauern and the rest of the Nock Mountains, with the lake below.
Climbing Notes
From the Kohlweißhütte this is an easy half-day walk for families: about 600 m of ascent and 3½ hours for the loop over the Rindernock, with the Hochalmhütte for a break. The western ascents from the Millstätter See side need good fitness for 900–950 m of ascent on steep paths and offer no refreshments. The plateau is broad and featureless, so navigation in fog needs care, and there is no shelter on the open top in a thunderstorm. Bring EUR 5 coins for the toll road.
History
Mooswald, a hamlet on the western slopes, is the home of Franz Klammer, Olympic downhill champion in 1976.
